National Study of Access to Government Information
The Institute of Museum and Library Services has announced a cooperative agreement with the Library Research Center (LRC) to investigate, in partnership with the Pew Internet & American Life Project, how effectively public libraries and community technology centers provide government information to people with limited access to the Internet. The agency awarded $495,053 for the national study; findings and recommendations for improving services to the public are expected in October 2007. The CII's Paul Adams is a member of the study team.
Homer Wireless Project (ongoing since Fall 2005)
This initiative addresses questions regarding a "digital divide" in Homer. It makes the community a wireless "hot-spot" and provides free high speed access to all. CII has offered up to 50 free computers (donated used equipment) and training for those without such resources.

U.S. Department of Commerce Technology Opportunities Program (TOP) Legacy Project (ongoing since 2004)
This project aims to document, preserve, and provide greater public access to the results of NTIA's (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) TOP funding program, which supported over six hundred community technology projects in the last 10 years.

GK-12
The National Science Foundation's Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Program supports teaching fellowships for graduate students in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The UIUC GK-12 Program fellows collaborate with STEM and Education faculty and participating K-12 teachers to integrate the use of computer-based modeling and scientific visualization into science and mathematics education.

Chickscope
The Illinois Chickscope(ILCS) project is a professional development program for K-12 teachers in central Illinois and University of Illinois preservice teachers.

Korean Cultural Center
This projects aims to build a centralized facility of new and existing Korean resources such as Korean children's books, books on health and nutrition for pregnant women and mothers, Korean magazines, and Korean cultural brochures and materials for Koreans in the Champaign area or those with an interest in Korean culture to share.
