Funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) provides major support for the annual Community as Intellectual Space (CIS) symposium. The fifth annual symposium, co-organized with the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC) in Chicago, had “Critical Pedagogy” as its theme. One hundred people gathered June 12-14, 2009, in the neighborhood of the PRCC, Paseo Boricua. Professor Ann Bishop taught a summer session course related to the CIS.
